Exciting news is coming from the Pearl of Africa. The Government of Uganda together with the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has announced updated tariffs for national park activities, including new pricing structures that will take effect in 2027 and special low-season rates for 2026.

Tourism remains one of the most important sectors of Uganda’s economy, contributing significantly to national GDP and providing employment for thousands of people across the country. By adjusting park tariffs and introducing seasonal pricing, Uganda aims to strengthen the tourism industry while ensuring continued conservation of its unique wildlife and ecosystems.

These new measures are expected to encourage more travelers to explore Uganda’s spectacular national parks while also supporting sustainable tourism initiatives.

Low-Season Travel Opportunities in 2026 and 2027.

To encourage more visitors during quieter travel periods, UWA has introduced special low-season rates for 2026 and 2027 for gorilla and chimpanzee permits.

The low season includes the months of:

  • April
  • May
  • November

During these months, visitors can benefit from reduced rates on selected park activities and services. Traveling in the low season can offer several advantages. Parks are often less crowded, wildlife viewing remains excellent, and the landscapes are beautifully green following seasonal rains.

For photographers, birders, and nature lovers, this period can be one of the most rewarding times to visit Uganda’s national parks.

Gorilla Trekking Permit Prices

One of the highlights of visiting Uganda is the chance to track endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.

Gorilla trekking takes place in two protected areas:

  • Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
  • Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Despite the introduction of new tariffs for other park products, the price of gorilla trekking permits for foreign non-resident visitors remains unchanged at USD 800 per permit.

This is excellent news for international travelers, as Uganda continues to offer one of the most competitive gorilla trekking experiences in Africa.
